Let’s do a test search. It’s getting close to Christmas so we’ll go with toys.

Aren’t you glad Google is saving you from those 249,999,000 or so listings. Sorry I can’t count that high. I’m sure that would be a giant waste of time, effort and page space. So if you are one of the 249 million who can’t board the gravy train for that simple one word search, feel free throw your money into Adwords. You’ll be competing with the sites who already have the top organic search listings.
Lucky for us Google is saving us from irrelevant listings. That’s what makes it so incredible that before you even get past the first 649 listings, you are already into sex toys. I mean, how relevant is that if you just typed in “toys”.
Do you think there could be at lest a few poor shmucks on the outside lloking in who might just be looking to sell a few nice regular toys who don’t have a seat on the stock exchange.
I want to see those listings.
Just put a few simple links at the top that allow users to “show all” or “reverse”. Any Google programmer could add that type of functionality in around 30 seconds. I know I could. Maybe some of us would enjoy clicking “next” for an entire day. Would that be so bad?
They should be transparent and include those options clearly at the beginning of search results. Not hidden at the end.
Until then you better get your long tail keywords ready. The longer the better. That’s reality.
I’m just talking about letting users think for themselves.
How about my old Google black idea. A version that does not censor any listings. Of course Google has given a whole new meaning to censorship. To be censored on Google just means you do not deserve to be seen.
According to Google, that is.
